Over 600 people gathered for the CYMFed Congress 2013 at The Sage, Gateshead (Newcastle Upon Tyne) on 16 March 2013.
It was a chance for youth ministers to gather together, share their experiences and pray for one another.
Bishop Luc Van Looy, the Bishop of Gent, who belongs to the Salesian order, was one of the key note speakers. Bishop Luc has a wealth of experience in ministry including a time as a missionary in Korea and also some time in Rome working as part of the Salesian general staff.
Bishop Luc challenged us to spend more time reading Scripture to give us the words we need to share our faith story with young people.

We were also joined by Christopher Pilkington, Executive Producer of Youth Programming for Endemol, a TV production company responsible for a number of mainstream programmes such as ‘Deal or No Deal.’ Christopher works with young people at his local church as a volunteer and has a powerful insight into the Media, Culture and the power of story.
There were stalls from many organisations and groups involved in youth ministry, sharing ideas and resources.
The Story, the latest publication from CYMFed, was also launched at the Congress. A collection of personal testimonies from young people across England and Wales about their faith. A great resource for sharing with young people, as well as inspiring your own faith – it’s available to buy for just £5 by emailing [email protected].
