World Youth Day 2013 – Resources

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]orld Youth Day (WYD) is a gathering of young people from around the world, held on an international level every 2-3 years. Gathering around the WYD Cross, pilgrims come together with the Pope to celebrate their faith, be inspired by teaching, and renew their commitment to be disciples in their daily lives. In the intervening years WYD is celebrated on the local level in dioceses and parishes. In England and Wales it is marked on the feast of Christ the King. Resources for this year’s National Youth Sunday on 25 November can be found here.

Groups from across England and Wales will be making the pilgrimage, whilst others celebrate at home. The Assumption Volunteers, Bosco Volunteer Action (BOVA), and CAFOD have produced some resources to help those going to Rio to prepare for their experience in a culture with many similarities and differences to life in the UK. Even if you’re not going to Rio, you will find information and ideas to help young people find out more about Brazil.

If you have any questions about WYD, the National Office for Vocations are holding WYD for the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales. Visit their webpage here.
