A new website offering a wealth of resources for National Youth Sunday (NYS) to use in parishes, schools and families has been launched by Catholic Youth Ministry Federation of England and Wales (CYMFed), addressing this year’s theme, Significance.
On the Feast of Christ the King, Sunday 24 November 2019, parishes, schools and all members of the Church are invited to celebrate the role and significance of our young people. This year, CYMFed is organising the event, and the theme was chosen to follow up on the huge Flame youth gather earlier this year. A team of youth ministry workers has produced materials including liturgies, videos and activity sheets to use in a variety of contexts, to help young people realise their significance to God, in an age where worth is too often reduced to reactions on social media.
The materials include inspiring stories of young people like Venerable Carlo Acutis, who lived lives of significance. There are also posters to download and display to raise awareness of the event locally.
More resources are being added to the site in the lead up to the event, and the team would love to hear about your own plans for National Youth Sunday. Comments can be left on the website or follow @nationalyouthsunday on Instagram. Schools are invited to hold a special NYS act of worship, joining with others across the country in prayer at 9:00 on Friday 22 November.
